Basically when you are the youngest teaching in a highschool, you tend to attract a lot of dads and 7th graders, yesterday a question on r/askreddit brought back this memory, this happened early 2019, so some conversation details are a little fussy. Cast ED: nice guy type entitled dad PK: poor kid who was most likely just doing what his dad told him AT: awesome teacher CP: cool principal Bf: my boyfriend Me: me On to the story This started at the beginning of the school year, I started as the English teacher’s assistant, we had classes from 4th grade to 6th grade, plus junior and senior year, obviously not every grade every day, but rather usually 2 grades per day, long story short, we had classes with 4th grade Mondays and Thursdays. My first Monday working starts and the English teacher, AT, the lovely old lady that helped me get the job, made it clear that just because I was young didn’t mean that they wouldn’t respect me and that I was going to also be helping them with school. Surprisingly they are really nice and well behaved, it’s usually from 6th grade and up that I’ve seen kids acting up, like a kid in 7th grade that was telling everyone he was dating me, but that’s another story. I tried to bond with all the kids since I feel that it’s better to gain their trust rather than just forcing them to work and then watch them struggle, here is where I met PK. A week goes by and that’s usually when we do a parent-teacher meeting to discuss how kids have adapted, this are for kids from 1st to 6th grade, AT wanted me to be in the meeting to learn how the dynamics work, here is where we met ED, take in count he was in his early 40s and I had recently turned 18, AT had gone to the bathroom when he came in, and the conversation when somewhat like this: (Translated from Spanish) ED: Hi, so are you PK’s teacher? Me: oh no, sorry, she will be back in a second! ED: wait, by any chance are you (my name)? Me: yeah that’s me ED: no way!, PK has been talking about this cool new teacher that he had, by the way he was talking about you it would be nice if you could hang out with us sometime! Me: (visibly uncomfortable) sorry I’m just a teacher’s assistant here and it’s my job to help students Finally AT walked in and talked to the ED about PK’s progress Next day rolls by and some students brought gifts for AT and me, very common where we live and most of them were small candies or chocolates, so safe to say kids at least liked me, everything was okay until I saw the ED again, english was the last class of their school schedule, 3 pm, AT stays with the class until they get picked up, but since I had the study group at 3:30 I usually left before most of the students. This day however, ED came to pick up PK early ED: sooo, did you get my number? Me: what? ED: my number, it was in the chocolates I sent Me: sorry but having that type of contact with the parents is unprofessional and I’d rather you not continue with that attitude ED: Oh no!, I was just wondering if you could tutor PK, he has been having troubles in English (It’s barely week 2 and no, PK was good at English) Me: I’m sorry but I’m busy all week, if you would like a tutor you have to discuss it with AT ED: but if you are free on weekends you can come to our house Quickly I said I couldn’t and left, for the next couple of weeks he would pick up PK early and tried to talk to me with the excuse of being about PK’s progress, but he would try to bring up my personal life Fast forward to second week of February, I get a friend request of none other than ED, I have two accounts, one that I have pretty much anyone that I like to keep in contact with, and a “finsta” where I only have close friends. He try to add me on my more open account, and before I denied it, I saw a dm that basically gave me a sob story about him going through a tough divorce and that he only wanted to be in contact with me to discuss about PK and make sure the divorce didn’t affect him, me being dumb and naive, accepted the request, it started more innocent like “how was PK today” but he quickly brought up my personal life and started questioning about my bf, now that’s another story on itself, but I’ll write it for you to have context. Bf and I officially started dating December 1st 2018, but I was still working with improving my self steam and learning how not to normalize toxic behaviors, Bf basically told me that he loved me, but wanted me to love myself first and if that meant me wanting to be with other or not having to rely on a relationship, he would understand so we went on a “break” before I started working, but still kept hanging out and occasionally cuddling, we officially “got back together” on February 14th 2019, but during the first weeks of February we were quite flirty IRL and online. Everything was normal with the ED until he started asking if the messages I posted on social media were about him, I should just have blocked him, but every day he would bring up the sob story, these messages were random I love you and I wish you were here on my insta story, yeah I was that annoying bitch, but stopped asking when I started uploading photos with bf. I just ignored him until one day bf came to my house and randomly ask if a knew a guy named like ED, I was like yeah that’s the father from a kid in my class, then he showed me all the threatening texts he had from him, most of them telling bf to get away from me, instantly I confronted ED by sending him the screenshots of his messages to bf and finally blocked him from social media and told him that any further contact would be at school only, the only reason I didn’t report him this time was that he gave me this sob story that he was still hurt by his ex, and bf’s name was similar to the name of the guy his wife left him for and he sent the messages while drunk, me still being naive and believing that people always tell the truth, I just left him on seen, but the next incident was what set everything off. A couple of days go by, and February 14 comes around, I was officially back with bf and posted it on social media, I don’t know how but he still saw the picture, and the next day I saw that I had texts from an unknown number, they were from ED, basically he was saying how could I have cheated on him and that I was supposed to be with him and that I was a good motherly figure to PK, instantly I blocked him. Monday morning comes around, I printed all the conversations and showed them to CP, she was equally disgusted with this ED, and told me she would deal with the matter Two days go by and I got called to CP’s office, there was a woman I didn’t know, turns out this was PK’s mom, the ED wasn’t divorced, and from this brief meeting I could tell the woman was really nice, CP made sure to tell her that this incident was started by ED and that I had blocked him and reported the incident, but I felt bad for this woman because she said that ED had cheated on her multiple times, but she didn’t leave him because of PK and because he was their main source of income. After they left CP told me what happened, she threatened to call the cops on ED if he still tried to contact me outside of school and told his wife of the problem, he stormed out furious, and took PK out of school the first week of March, apparently they were moving to a safer part of the country, that’s the last thing I knew about them, I just hope that PK and his mother are in a better place right now.

The BUILD Series should get 100x the views that it does. Free watch the assistant jobs. One of the hardest things to decide when you become a Virtual Assistant is how to set your rates. If you charge by the hour then you’ll never earn more than there are hours in the day which is why it’s better to get a client on a retainer or charge a project rate. “But how does that work and how do I do that?! ” I hear you cry. Well let’s look at those options in more detail: Charging by the hour If you charge by the hour then you can only earn 8x your hourly rate. Plus not every hour you work is billable – you have your own admin to sort out, documents to familiarise yourself with, phone calls to take and make, and systems and docs to set up. The unbillable hour can really add up. The other downside to charging by the hour is that you’ll become quicker and better as you go along so you’ll actually end up being paid less the better you get. And you don’t want that. Remember the extras: Don’t think that a high hourly rate means you’re making more than you did working in a full-time job. When you worked for a company you also received: Holiday pay Sick pay Maternity leave National Insurance and tax was sorted for you Petrol and mileage All your equipment including desk, stationery, phone storage space etc Utilities including broadband, phone lines, water, heating, electricity and rent Free coffee and tea Training and network meetings Guaranteed hours Security And now you won’t So when you’re working out how much to charge remember that you’ll be at home using water, heating, broadband, your phone and electricity. You’ll also be buying all your own stationery and paying for all the extras yourself. Yes, you can put a lot of it on your expenses, but it still adds up. Here are the different ways you can charge: How much to charge? In the UK the average rate for a VA is around £25+ an hour and between $30 and $60 an hour in the States dependant on expertise and experience. I personally charge £30 an hour (I specialise in social media and other techie services) but clients are usually given project rates due to the nature of their tasks. So I quote £x for setting up a 10-email newsletter sequence in MailChimp or Aweber but the quote will vary dependant on the task because no two tasks/projects are exactly the same. Remember that you will need to add a minimum of 25% to your rates to cover your taxes and other expenses. So if you were thinking about charging £20 an hour then multiply £20 by 1. 25 and quote around £25 an hour. So do not go below £25 an hour in the UK and $30 an hour in the States. Why £25 an hour? Below is a post by one of the members of my VA Handbookers Facebook group on how she worked out her hourly rate. It’s a really popular post and one we refer back to time and time again. “I’ve seen a lot of posts recently about people considering offering a discount, lower rate, free trials etc so I did a little exercise to work out how much it really costs for me to be a VA. This is quite a long thread but hopefully worth it if you’re doubting whether to charge £25 an hour. Start with the basics per hour: Minimum UK wage = £7. 50 (wait I come back to this**) Business insurance = 3p (due to the type of work I do I took out personal indemnity insurance) National insurance = 15p (self employed contributions) Tax = £1. 50 (20% of minimum wage) House insurance = 22p Electricity and gas = 20p Water = 1p Internet = 3p Phone = 2p Total = £9. 66 per hour ** I’d like to be earning more than minimum wage so £12 an hour seems fair and if I got a new job I’d be looking for a pay increase plus I have 14 years experience. (£12 – £7. 50 = £4. 50 more) New hourly rate = £14. 16 Ah shucks, I forgot to add admin website costs and training and there’s bound to be other things I’ve not included so let’s say £15. New hourly rate = £15 But hang on I don’t want to work 35 hours a week anymore. Okay, 5 hours a day seems fair enough. Hmmmm… £12 per hour x 35 hours = £420. Divide that by 25 hours = £16. 80. That’s £4. 80 more than I worked out my hourly wage to be so lets round it up to £5. Ok new hourly rate = £20 Great but wait I need to make a profit as it’s a business after all. So what’s a healthy profit margin? Google says 25%, so £20 divided by 4 = £5 Well, what do you know, £25 per hour is a good rate! Final hourly rate = £25 I used some science and some estimates but it’s roughly about right. But importantly, no longer will I be justifying my hourly charge in my head! ” Charging by the project Psychologically, this works better on many levels because you can charge more and still keep the client happy because you’re providing value. Clients always think tasks take you less time to complete than they actually do, so if you give them a total price for the entire project (incorporating time spent on the task plus all the extras like email and phone correspondence etc) then they know how much it will cost them and you know how much you’re getting paid. They aren’t quibbling over your timeframe as only you know how long the project will take you. Remember that you’ll be faster and better the longer you’re a VA so tasks won’t take you as long to complete and you’ll earn more money for working fewer hours. Which is the business model all freelancers strive to achieve! It’s worth noting that project rates are always depended on the task. So I would quote my hourly rate on my website but then say retainers and project rates were available upon discussion. This way the client had a rough ballpark figure of my prices but we could have a chat and come to an agreement if they wanted a project price. How to know how long a project will take If it’s a task you’ve done many times before then you should know how long it’ll take you. If you don’t then you might have to give a rough estimate then allow for a contingency budget depending on the scope. Have this as a clause in your T&Cs though and make sure this is clear from the start. The key is to make sure you have a full understanding of the scope of the project. Send the client an email summarising the task as you see it (“I understand the task to be X, Y, Z etc”) then quote accordingly. Make sure you BOTH agree on what the task is and what you’re billing them for. You will occasionally get it wrong and end up undercharging but then you know for next time and you most certainly will never make that mistake again! Charging by the project is how you make the most money. Charging a retainer A retainer is a great option when you have a client who needs bitty things done. Some clients need tasks done here and there and, if you charge by the hour, it often won’t add up to much. The great thing about retainers is that the client knows what they get for their money and what their invoice will be, and you know how much money you’ll be getting each month whether they use up their allotted hours or not. Plus retainers are usually charged in advance for the month ahead not the month just gone. So, if you charge the client £100 for four hours work at £25 per hour, they know they can use the four hours over the month and you know you’re definitely getting £100. Some VAs offer a discount if the client books a certain amount of hours but this isn’t that common in other freelance industries. This is because the client is paying to retain your time   – so bill them for the hours they’ve agreed whether they use them all or not. Because the client is paying to guarantee your availability, feeling guilty that you’re invoicing them for hours they didn’t use is futile because it’s how retainers work- it’s the whole point of them! Think of a retainer like a gym membership If you only go to the gym twice in one month (or not at all) the gym is not going to offer to roll your subscription over because you didn’t use the facilities you are paying for! Nor would Netflix offer to roll over your payment if you decided not to watch any shows that month. How to suggest a retainer Your goal is to get a client on a retainer but only give them this option once you’ve been working together for a while and have proved your worth to them. Neither of you knows if you like working together yet – you don’t want to get saddled with a bad client and they don’t even know if you’re good at your job yet. A client will rarely sign up to a retainer before they’ve spent some time working with you. The main thing about selling anything to anyone is that you always have to outline what’s in it for them and not you. So you could say something like: “Hey, we’ve been working together for a few months now, I love working with you and I know you’re happy with my work as well; your tasks always seem to take around x hours so why don’t we set up a monthly retainer instead of billing by the hour. This way you’ll always know how much your invoice is going to be, but more importantly, you’ll be secure in the knowledge that I actually have the time put aside for your tasks. My business is growing quite quickly and I want to make sure I always have availability for you. ” How to set your rates You’re not here to convince someone to hire you and, if you don’t think you are good at what you do, then you have no business being a VA. Do you think you’re good at what you do? Have you worked hard to gain your skills and experience? Do you think your skills are valuable in terms of saving or making people money or giving them more time? Are a lot of other VAs offering this service or are you a specialist in this area? Then charge for what you’re worth. You are a modern businesswoman. You’re not a little secretary or an office junior and you provide a skilled service. In fact, by doing what you do best, your client is freed up to get on with what they do best – which is usually making money for their business. Don’t price yourself too low It’s VERY important that you position yourself well and a client can see that you’re good at what you do. If you’re really cheap people may think your work will be poor quality and that you don’t value what you do – so they won’t either. People who are looking for a cheap deal will always go for the lower rate anyway so don’t try to compete with other VAs on price because there will always be someone cheaper than you and you do not want to be in a race to the bottom. Also, if you go in too low then it will be much harder to raise your prices later. It’s much better to pitch yourself as having a speciality and charge accordingly. It’s a fact that many people won’t understand or appreciate the value of what you do, but there are plenty of people on the planet who will. It’s important not to waste your time with someone who just wants the cheapest price; you want to focus your efforts on finding clients who are looking for a fantastic service and who are happy to pay for it. Warning – One of the most important things I’ve learned (and I learned this the hard way AND more than once) is that anyone who questions your rates, is going to be a nightmare client. They just want the cheapest rate and they’ll be awkward, pay you late and sometimes try to get out of paying you at all. They’re not worth the hassle and you should give them a wide berth. But don’t price yourself too high You might be concerned that if you charge too much then nobody will hire you. You’d (mostly) be wrong. Cheapskates won’t hire you nor will people who don’t value a good service – which is good because you don’t want either of them as clients! A client might be able to find 100 VAs they can hire, but only one (you! ) that specialises in the particular thing they need doing. And they’d definitely prefer to hire a specialist than a generalist. However… if you charge over the going (or reasonable) rate for your service then you’ve just priced yourself out of the market. Know what you’re worth and charge appropriately. See what the going rate is for your speciality then set your rate according to your experience and level of expertise. One important note here – the more you charge, the better you need to be. If a client is paying top dollar for a VA then they will expect top service. Show your value and worth You cannot underestimate the value clients place on you being reliable, consistent, easy to work with, great at communicating, being trustworthy and both understanding and anticipating their needs. They WILL pay good money for that because it’s actually hard to find. You’d think all Virtual Assistants would be these things but they’re not. Market yourself as being someone who knows their industry inside out and demonstrate this with testimonials and case studies so a potential client can see you’re really good at what you do and can be confident that you’re worth the money. Summary However you decide to price yourself (I use a combination of all three methods) make sure that everyone knows what’s what, you’re getting paid what you’re worth, the client is getting a top rate service, and remember to review your charges and services each year. When you’re starting out with your business, you’re doing it all: fulfilling orders, responding to customers, managing your social media, and so much more. But while we pursue entrepreneurship for many reasons, having less time in our lives isn’t one of them. That’s why the first “employee” many ecommerce entrepreneurs hire is a virtual assistant: someone who can take on the daily tasks and processes that are important for running your business, but not necessarily focused on growing it. A virtual assistant is like having an extra pair of hands without hiring an actual employee. If you’re experiencing stress and the other “good problems” that come with success, it might be time for you to consider hiring your own virtual assistant and get back some of those hours in your day. What is a virtual assistant (VA)? A virtual assistant (VA) is any form of remote help that you contract to hand off your workload. They can operate anywhere in the world, have multiple clients, and can be hired to take on a variety of your day-to-day tasks. A virtual assistant is a common "first hire" for many entrepreneurs, especially amongst online businesses, who don't have the budget for a full-time employee or the time to continue doing everything themselves. The difference between a VA and a freelancer or a traditional employee is that VAs are resourceful generalists (sometimes competent in areas like marketing communications or design) who perform tasks or routines rather than owning an entire function of your business. And while they aren't permanent employees, they offer an affordable way to get ongoing help running your business without any of the additional expenses of hiring a full-time person (plus their services as a contractor are often  tax deductible). A virtual assistant won’t build your entire website, but they might help you manage parts of your store. They probably won’t write and manage all your content, but they might help you with research. They shouldn't take on an entire function of your business, but rather own a specific process or part of the whole machine. Giving up control can be hard for entrepreneurs, and so taking on a VA is the perfect way to practice the soft skills of managing, delegating, and hiring on a smaller scale—all of which are essential to being a good leader. What can you outsource to a virtual assistant? While virtual assistants often do a lot of administrative tasks, you can also hire them to perform roles ranging from sales to social media management (if you give them clear guidelines and instructions). If it’s a repetitive routine, you can probably hand it off to a VA. If you can write down a tedious process on paper, you can probably teach your VA how to do it for you. As long as the tasks or processes are something a reasonably intelligent and resourceful person can accomplish when given clear instructions, you can probably get a virtual assistant to take them on. Here are just some of the things you can hire a virtual assistant to do for you: Customer Service: Answering emails and phone calls from customers. Social Media Management: Curating content, replying to comments, and other community management tasks. Research: Looking for a list of bloggers/influencers to reach out to or curating stats or examples you can use in a piece of content. Store Management: Order fulfillment, inventory management, running sales for you (you can find VAs that have experience with Shopify, specifically). Data-entry: Bookkeeping or inputting data from different sources into a spreadsheet. Cold Calling: Making cold calls (usually provided with a script and canned responses to common questions), and scheduling meetings between you and prospects. Personal Errands: Getting flowers bought and delivered to your mom for Mother’s Day. From the uses cases above, you can already see how much time a VA can potentially save you if you were to incorporate one into your day. When should you hire a virtual assistant? Generally, you'll want to get your hands dirty first before you hand anything off to a virtual assistant. This way, you'll know how to teach them the process, what guidelines you need to set, and what good work looks like. That said, here are some of the conditions where hiring a VA would be ideal, even for a relatively young business: You're highly familiar with a process within your business and feel you could easily teach it to someone else. You find yourself thinking, "I could do bigger, more important things if only I had the time". You have the revenue or disposable income to go towards buying back your time. There's a task that you find really draining, such as customer service, that doesn't come naturally to someone like you (e. g. you're an introvert and feel drained after answering a few emails). You may not require full-time help, but just a handful of hours every day. You've already explored  IFTTT,  Zapier, Kit (Shopify's free marketing chatbot), and the App Store  for ways to streamline a process, and found it'd be easier if another person just owned it. You feel overwhelmed by the new success you're experiencing with your business, or you work a 9-to-5 and are building your business on the side. As an ecommerce store owner, customer service is likely the first thing you’ll want to outsource when you start making sales at a steady pace. Dealing with customers is one of the most stressful, time-consuming challenges for many. And the more you sell, the more of time it will consume. Think about the opportunity cost of continuing to perform a task on a regular basis. What is your time worth? If you spend an hour a day answering customer questions, what could you be doing instead with that time, energy, and attention? You can let go of these tasks and use your newfound hours to chase greater profits and other pursuits—for an affordable price. How much does a virtual assistant cost? Prices for virtual assistants vary, and usually, American-based virtual assistants cost more than overseas ones. Many charge by the hour. Some charge per task or project. And some will accept a flat rate for a certain amount of time. Hourly is usually the best route in most cases, especially for daily tasks, and you can monitor your invoices to ensure there's a consistent output per hour. If you’re diligent and willing to look internationally, it is possible to get a great virtual assistant for as low as $3 to $10 per hour for a role like customer service. It also depends on the work you want to outsource to them. Keep in mind that you generally get what you pay for and should always properly vet any potential hires. If you're a busy entrepreneur who's willing to pay a higher rate, you can also hire a remote "executive assistant", who can act as your right-hand person and do a wide range of business and personal tasks on your behalf. The platform you use to hire your virtual assistant will also affect the amount of time you spend managing that relationship, which should also be considered alongside the price. How to hire your first virtual assistant Not all VAs are the same. Like any other employee, you’ll need to vet them carefully and that starts with laying out your needs and conditions in a job description. But before you write that, make sure you record the process you want to hand off. 1. Document your process before you outsource It Working with a VA isn't as simple as explaining what you want over the phone and hoping they do it right. You can ensure fewer errors, and that the job gets done the way you want, if you document the entire process first and create guidelines for them to follow. If it involves a basic routine, like managing aspects of your store, you can record your screen and every click you make while you're doing it yourself using Quick Time  or any screen recording app. Not only does this recording make it easier to onboard someone else to this process, it also gets you to consciously go through every little step you'll have to eventually communicate to your virtual assistant. For customer service, social media management, and other tasks where your VA will be dealing directly with customers, partners, or vendors, go through your past responses and create scripts or "canned replies" for every common scenario, like when a customer asks about the status of their order or wants a refund. One of the keys to effective delegation is anticipating common obstacles and offering advice on the best course of action to take. Write these out as conditional rules: "IF X happens, THEN do Y". Also consider the tools and platforms you use throughout the process, as it's far easier to find a VA with experience using certain apps (e. Zendesk, Hootsuite, Facebook) than it is to teach someone from scratch. Remember: Your goal with outsourcing of any kind is to create less work for yourself, not more. 2. Write a job description to attract the right virtual assistant In order to find the right VA, you'll need to write a job description that can attract someone with the skills and qualities you need. This will be your first filter for finding the right person. Be sure to include: The scale of your business (e. how many sales/support tickets you typically get a day). The apps/tools they'll be using. Past experiences that will make them successful. Language requirements (e. "Excellent spoken/written English" if they'll be communicating with customers in the U. S). A specific list of the tasks they'll be performing for you. The keywords that prospective hires might be searching for, such as "social media management". Feel free to adapt the sample job description below for a customer service VA to suit your purposes. Sample VA job description We run a 6-figure dropshipping business and receive dozens of support requests through Zendesk and Facebook every week. We require someone with great customer service experience to help respond to tickets on Zendesk and messages on Facebook. We will provide answers to the most common questions we receive. From time to time, the candidate may be required to log into our Shopify store and look up orders, make changes to orders, or provide refunds. Ideally, this candidate has experience with ecommerce, a dropshipping business, and Shopify. Experience with Oberlo is an asset. Duties include: Checking messages on Facebook, answering questions Responding to and solving support tickets in ZenDesk Solving customer problems such as a change in their order Solving customer inquiries such as the status of their order, how long before their shipment arrives, etc Looking up orders in Shopify / Oberlo when required Moderating comments on Facebook posts, hiding complaints, deleting slander Qualities needed to be successful: Excellent English comprehension and writing ability Courteous and compassionate customer service Problem-solving ability Zendesk experience Facebook experience Shopify experience Oberlo experience is a plus Experience with a dropshipping business is a plus Interest in yoga is an asset (our industry that we serve) Other Skills: Customer Service, Customer Support, Shopify, Social Media Management, Zendesk 3. Hire your virtual assistant While you can post your virtual assistant role on a traditional job board, forum, or social network, it's usually not worth it when you consider the lack of quality control or the advantages you get from using a platform that's built specifically for this purpose. If it's your first time hiring a virtual assistant, especially for your Shopify store, we recommend you use Upwork  to find affordable, experienced help. Upwork also gives you the tools you need to make managing your virtual assistant(s) easier, including: A review system that ensures quality across the marketplace. A time-tracking feature that takes regular screenshots of your VA’s screen to keep them accountable. A chat feature for sharing files and feedback. Easy invoicing and global payments. A Non-Disclosure Agreement built into their Terms of Service Payments via an escrow service, so you only pay for the work that gets done. Once you've posted your job description, you can reach out to prospects or invite virtual assistants to apply to your job posting, and wait until you start to get some replies. Make sure you interview any potential hires over Skype or Google Hangouts to ensure they're a good fit before you hire them, looking for references from past clients and other signs that attest to their past performance as a virtual assistant. Managing your virtual assistant Once you've hired your virtual assistant and brought them up to speed using the documentation you created, and have established a preferred communications channel (Skype, Hangouts, Slack, or email), you'll need to ensure you only give limited access to your store, social accounts, or whatever else they'll be using to perform their job. Trust is a big part of the relationship between you and your virtual assistant, and you should let them earn it through their performance. So avoid giving them your login credentials for your accounts, and opt for restricted user permissions wherever possible. 4. Protect your information and accounts In your Shopify store, you can add your virtual assistant as a Staff Account with specific permissions based on the tasks they'll need to execute. Most of the tools you probably use offer some form of limited access for other users. In Facebook's Page Manager, you can assign them a specific role so they can curate and post content. In  Zendesk  or whatever customer service software you use, you can add them as a new user with the ability to respond to support tickets. With a Paypal business account, you can give them specific user permissions so they can make payments without giving them your credit card info. And in Gmail, you can set up email delegation so they can see and respond to emails on your behalf. If you're dropshipping through Oberlo and AliExpress, you can give them access to your AliExpress account with the payment options saved and ready to go, monitoring your transaction history for any behavior you need to address. Since virtual assistants work with multiple clients, sometimes with competitors in the same niche, it's wise to get them to sign a   Non-Disclosure Agreement. You don't want them to reveal your secrets, after all. Some platforms like Upwork have this covered in their Terms of Service, but be sure to double check before you hand your VA any information that could be used against you or by competitors. 5. Set up a system for keeping them accountable It's hard to gauge the pace at which your VA should be working, or how much work they should be getting done per hour. That's why it's important to enforce time-tracking. While there are free tools like Toggl, and some VAs have software that helps them track their own time, Upwork has a robust time-tracking feature that also takes screenshots of your VA's screen at regular intervals. While you ideally want your VA to function independently without much oversight, check in with them every once in a while to see if there are ways you can streamline the process or improve their work. You might even discover that your virtual assistant finds a better way to do the task than the way you prescribed, or that they've become so familiar with your business that they start to offer fresh suggestions like a full-time employee might. Once your VA is comfortable with their tasks, you can even consider expanding their role and outsourcing more processes, or hiring an additional VA to manage another aspect of your business. Other places to hire a virtual assistant While Upwork is a great choice for hiring a VA that can take on aspects of your ecommerce business, there are plenty of other ways you can go about hiring a VA that come with their own pros and cons. For an affordable on-demand virtual assistant that you only need occasionally, you can use Fancy Hands  to access a pool of VAs who can complete one-time tasks. It's better for outsourcing personal errands (setting up meetings or negotiating your phone bill for you), or parts of a project, rather than an entire process as you won't get the same VA every time. Zirtual is another popular option for a dedicated U. S-based virtual executive assistant that's experienced and skilled in one or many aspects of running a business. They'll cost more (starting at $398 a month), but can handle a mix of business and personal tasks for you throughout each month. There are also agencies and independent VAs that you can hire outside of all of these platforms, but you'll likely have to handle a lot of the details like finding a good time-tracking tool and enforcing confidentiality yourself. Learning to let go In a funny way, the goal of entrepreneurship isn’t just to own a business, but to give up as much of it as you can, leaving parts in capable hands, so that your business can stay afloat without your full attention. Outsourcing can be an unnatural practice for many entrepreneurs who relish control. But it's a key consideration for achieving the elusive work/life balance  that's even harder when you're doing everything on your own. Hiring a VA lets you focus on the things that matter most—growing your business, spending time with your family, or just giving yourself a few more moments to catch your breath. My Grandma is dying, and is leaving behind 50k+ USD for all 4 of her kids on top of some land. I live in a 3rd world country, so for us that's a fortune. I didn't grow up with my dad (her son) though. My mother and I moved away when I was about 9 and while we do get along, it's far from an ideal father/son relationship. After a year, he met my Stepmom (SM from now on) and became a stepdad to her 2 kids. They never married btw. Most of his money were spent on his new family so he barely sent me any child support growing up. A few years ago, I found out about the money he's to receive and the lands once my grandma died HOWEVER most of it will be under my name since Grandma hates SM. My dad and SM live in a small house in my Grandma's property, along Sam's disabled grandkid (Cerebral Palsy). He doesnt make much and SM is just at home watching the kid. Recently (I'm 23 now), my grandma's health has been declining after having 4 consecutive (mild) strokes. Now I've never been really close with this Grandma but I still feel very bad about it however I've been hearing whispers from my SM about how she feels entitled to some of the money and the property (some from gossip, some from her own mouth) so I felt pretty pissed off about. Now it's always been my dream to move to Canada and, with the money, I can finally afford to leave my country and study/work there. I plan on taking about 40-45k of the money to make my dreams come true but I havent told anyone about it yet except for my mom (shes neutral). My dad has been somewhat guilt tripping me about how SM and the kid are fucked if anything happens to him and how I should always look out for them and shit. I'm not that heartless so Im planning on letting them continue living in the house rent free and giving them about 5k of my inheritance. I feel like my dad owes me the majority of the money anyways, after being absent physically and financially my whole life. Free watch the assistant full. If you have ever had the chance to watch a basketball game on TNT, you might have caught yourself as glued to the half-time show as the actual game. NBA on TNT is one of the best sports broadcasts hosted by some of the boldest personalities on TV: Shaquille O’Neil, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, and of course… Charles Barkley.  There are no subjects off limits and no quarter is given. But there is one topic that never fails to elicit strong consternation from Ernie despite roars of laughter from Shaq— Charles Barkley’s bit about the Big ol Women™ of San Antonio. If you haven’t seen it, here’s one of the best supercuts to catch you up: As you can see, Chuck is fascinated with San Antonio — well, with the women and churros of San Antonio at least. He brings up the subject so often that simply googling “San Antonio Women” yields almost exclusively articles and clips of Barkley & Co. discussing the virtues of San Antonio churros, the Big ‘ol Women™ who eat them, and the city’s curious lack of Victoria’s Secret stores. google search results for generic query "San Antonio Women" From his time as a player, to his current career as a broadcaster, Barkley is infamous for never minding his tongue. When it comes to making Shaq and the production crew keel over with laughter, it’s clear he has no plans to change his humorous tone, no matter how much Ernie scorns him. But did you ever wonder why… Why is Chuck so fixated on the Big ol Women ™ of San Antonio and their unique pastry/ lingerie inclinations? Is there something more behind the man’s obsession? So began my search to understand the enigma that is Charles Wade Barkley… The Research I started out by attempting to confirm or refute Barkley’s suspicions…  Does San Antonio have a lot of Big ol Women™?  Is Victoria really a “Secret” in San Antonio?, and How do fried Spanish pastries play into this whole thing? Well let’s break it down one-by-one… San Antonio’s Big ol Women™ I compared obesity rates for every NBA city to determine if there is any merit to Chuck’s claim that San Antonio has an abundance of plus-sized ladies… NBA cities ranked by Obesity Rates As it turns out, he is right on point. According to my analysis of a 2018 CDC report, San Antonio is the 4th chunkiest city in the NBA with more than 37% of adults registering as “clinically obese”. And with over half of San Antonians identifying as female, it’s safe to say the city does have a lot of Big ol Women™. Interesting side note: San Antonio isn’t just one of the fattest cities in the nation, they also have a distinct love for the rolls (pun intended). Per my research, San Antonio ranks #2 in the country for most google searches for “BBW”, which is of course the porn abbreviation for Big Beautiful Women. Not sure the significance of this fact, or how I came upon this information, but thought it was worth mentioning. google trend statistics for search term "bbw" How many of these searches belong to Chuck himself? No small amount, I can assure you. “Who’s Victoria? ” — San Antonio Using Victoria’s Secret store locator, I compiled the total number of store locations in each NBA city. Then, using 2016 U. S. Census Bureau statistics, I appended the populations for each city and calculated the amount of Victoria’s Secret stores per capita. NBA cities ranked by Victoria's Secret stores per capita Again, Chuck’s intuition was spot-on! The city of San Antonio has the 4th fewest number of Victoria’s Secret stores per capita of all NBA cities (bottom 89th percentile). I guess it’s safe to conclude, Victoria really is a secret in San Antonio. The author contacted Victoria’s Secret Public Relations prior to publishing this article but they chose not to comment on this story. How do fried Spanish pastries play into this? Tremendously, that’s how. I literally spent over three hours immersed in “churro data”. Admittedly, one of those hours was a lunchtime run to “Angel’s Churros & Chocolates” in Houston, TX — shout out to Maria for hooking it up with the Nutella on the side! Using cutting-edge scientific research tools, I determined the number of churro vendors per capita in each NBA city. Okay, I googled that shit. I figured counting Mexican restaurants in general would be super misleading so I quantified specifically the number of churro vendors in each NBA city using the following criteria: Performed the google search “[CITY] Churros” (e. g., “San Antonio Churros”) and counted the amount of vendors with explicit references to “Churro” in the name. I accepted various spellings and puns (e. g., “xurros”, or “Churroholic”, etc). NBA cities ranked by churro-vendors per capita Well Mr. Barkley’s hunch was right again… San Antonio has the 4th most Churro-Vendors per capita in the NBA (top ~90th percentile). Have to admit, though, I did not expect to see Salt Lake City rank so high on this list. Considering the strip club rankings, I might actually have to make a trip to the ‘great white west’…  We have to give credit to Chuck here; he certainly knows his stuff! But for a man who disavows data science, it begs the question, how does he know so much about the Alamo city? The Analysis With my suspicions on the rise, I dug deeper into the data. And the more I dug, the more it smelled… *sniff* and I love the smell of cinnamon and projection in the morning. So what is Mr. Barkley hiding? Well, I analyzed his career performance in San Antonio to see if there is more to the story. Charles Barkley has an impressive resume: two-time Olympic gold medalist, 11-time NBA All Star, 1993 Most Valuable Player, and an esteemed member of the NBA hall of fame. He went by the intimidating moniker, Round Mound of Rebound. He is, indubitably, one of the greatest ballers of all time. But, just like all the greats, he had a weakness… ‘The Biggest Loser’ Between the years 1983–1998, Barkley played 19 games in San Antonio. He won just 4 of them. With his career road-win percentage at nearly. 500, and considering the other damning stats laid out below, his. 211 win rate in San Antonio falls soundly in the " curious" column. Career Road W/L Record: 259–276 (. 484 win%) San Antonio W/L Record: 4–15 (. 211 win%) W/L split, Career Away vs in San Antonio Now I don’t want to mislead you, San Antonio were no schmucks during this period and, obviously, basketball is a team sport. But Barkley carries most of the water: he was a generational talent and the stand-out star on most of his teams (aside from a couple years with a washed up Julius Erving and an aging Moses Malone in Philly and a couple with near-retirement Hakeem in Houston). But the following analysis should help further make my case. ‘My -25% Life’ San Antonio proved to be a blight on Barkley’s esteemed career. My analysis showed significant declines in almost every statistical category examined: GmSc  — Averaged a -25% variance in Game Score in SA compared to career avg ORB  — Averaged a - 11% variance in Offensive Rebounds in SA as compared to career avg FT%  — Averaged a -9% variance in FT shooting efficiency in SA as compared to career avg FG%  — Averaged a -2% variance in shooting efficiency in SA as compared to career avg AST  — Averaged a -6% variance in Assists in SA as compared to career avg Note: GmSc (Game Score) is a John Hollinger-created stat that gives a comprehensive measure of a player’s productivity. Formula: GmSc=PTS+(0. 4*FG)–(0. 7*FGA)–[0. 4*(FTA-FT)]+(0. 7*ORB)+(0. 3*DRB)+STL+(0. 7*AST)+(0. 7*BLK)–(0. 4*PF)-TOV Here’s what the analysis looks like: Barkley performance analysis via heat mapping You can see the heat map to the left is covered in red. Red cells indicate negative variances, meaning: for that year, Barkley’s average in San Antonio was below his Season Average. Of the 112 total data points examined (8 stats x 14 seasons), Barkley under-performed against the season average 62% of the time. Heat maps are great but I needed to visualize the data in a way that better depicts the scale of Chuck’s drop in performance. I used a clustered column chart because it gives the best visual representation of relative performance, as you can easily identify the +/- trends ( Graphs for Dummies: larger/more frequent lines on BOTTOM = BAD; larger/more frequent lines on TOP = GOOD).  Barkley GmSc Variance in SA vs Season Avg Barkley Shooting Eff. Variances in SA vs Season Avg These huge performance declines are damning. But what do they truly tell us? Conclusion Well, if you’ve been following along, things should be starting to make sense. A picture has formed… how could a man who so ardently rebukes data science, know things about San Antonio that only the data can tell us? Every Great had their weakness. MJ couldn’t stop gambling. Shaq couldn’t hit free throws. Magic couldn’t keep it in his pants. Kobe never saw a shot he didn’t like. LeBron, hairline. For Charles Barkley, it was an entire city. The plus-sized women of San Antonio and their delectable Spanish pastries were the Round Mound’s kryptonite. And it appears he never got over it. A career of indulgence in the Alamo City has left him bitter with regret. The Chuckster has used his platform on TNT to — not very credibly — disguise his own predilections for the amenities of San Antonio. Without stretching the facts too far, we can paint a vivid picture of Barkley’s own struggle. Imagine: a perpetual Big-and-Tall man since roughly the age of 12 (guessing) and a basketball phenom would have become accustomed to night-after-night by himself with nothing but his appetite and a sense that — thanks to his coaches — he deserved to be rewarded. That he was a good boy. Another city, another game, another 4-star hotel room to himself (another sold-out show, as it were). The excitement of seeing San Antonio on the schedule brings tears to the man’s eyes. He knows what awaits him and purposefully forgets what happened before… Barkley, awaken by the morning sun’s blistering reflection off the San Antonio R̶i̶v̶e̶r̶ Creek, sees the debris and refuse from an all-night binge. He did it again. Churro wrappers crinkling beneath his weight, cinnamon sugar coating the corners of his mouth and fingers alike, and a familiar wave of anxiety that tends to come after relapse. As his memory from the prior night returns, he glances around the room with a vain hopefulness that he did not ‘fall’ alone. He was relieved to learn that, in fact, he was not alone in the previous night’s debasement. Positioned heavily — nay, crushingly — on the duvet is a Big ol Woman™ sporting a handsome pair of bloomers. Her voluminous mass reassuring him — no, beckoning him — to forgive himself for his indiscretions. It wasn’t just him after all. But he knew exactly what he had done. In a rush to forget, he licked the crusted cinnamon from his lips, quietly donned his game day attire and snuck out to meet his teammates in the lobby. But his mind would never leave that hotel room. It is through painting this portrait of a man both conflicted and passionate (aren’t we all) that we can better understand the system of associations that have led Barkley to betray his own naked psychology for all the world to jeer at. And yet, can we blame the man? Are we not all, on some level, looking for someone to share in our appetites? Whether it be for the occasional night of plus-size women and churros, or too many designer handbags; everyone has a vice. Unfortunately, from years of shame for letting down his teammates and coaches, Chuck has betrayed the very thing that he loves.  That’s why I’m here to tell him, myself: Stop Projecting, Mr. Barkley. In 2020, the decade of proclaimed ass-eating, there is no shame. It’s okay to stan for Big ol Women™. In fact, it’s great. The food situation has gotten MUCH better - we went to bed hungry and thirsty, but are actually full now. 09:57 41 new cases for a total of 61 cases on board. In one case, a news journalist reached out to an insurer asking about why they weren’t covering us - turns out, they changed their mind and covered them! The US embassy is working to get us off the boat on this date. Until then, cabin confinement will be a thing, along with visits to the open deck every day on a rotating schedule. Not everyone will get to go each day. Tomorrow, ocean view staterooms can go outside. All interior cabins have been able to see light today. Mandatory masks/gloves will be worn. The Japanese health ministry has provided us with additional doctors and medical staff to assist with the ongoing situation. We’ve been provided with even more water, and have two gallons stockpiled of bottled water. The cruise ship is well stocked, and passengers are being well taken care of. Cabin fever and keeping occupied is the major challenge for many of us, though puzzles are being handed out, origami paper, and many movies are being added. The cruise line has really come together to make the best of the situation. Broadband speeds have greatly increased, and are free. They’re also working on in-room activities to keep us occupied. A new food/beverage menu is being developed. They’ve addressed that being confined is a tough situation, and truly are making quality of life better. Balconies have been addressed - we can go out as we please, but are required to wear masks. The crew has done an amazing job through extraordinary circumstances, and Princess Cruises has really stepped to the plate today. The captain has been much more vocal today - I can’t imagine the stress that’s being put on him between the company, embassies, the Japanese government, and passengers frustrations. Tomorrow morning at about 08:00, the Diamond Princess will set sail to sea for normal marine operations (I. e, making water), and will return in the evening back to Yokohama’s daikoku cruise terminal. I’ll have more updates tomorrow - off to watch a movie with the wife! Things are good, and today, we had BACON. Our clogged arteries are happy! There are a couple ambulances out but from our understanding everyone was taken off who was positive last night. 08:21 First person has been taken off the ship. Just finished interviewing with Chanel 5 in DFW - will be on at 22:00 central standard time. 08:44 Noticed a few suitcases and people that look like they’re boarding - I’m thinking that these were the Japanese medical professionals that they were talking about. 08:55 The president of Princess Cruises is here in japan working to make sure the cruise remains comfortable for its passengers. A few passengers reported fevers and are being checked by medical staff - that’s what the ambulances are for. A consoling hotline has been opened for guests aboard the cruise. We will shortly set sail to perform essential marine activities off the coast of japan. We will arrive back to Yokohama on 2/9/2020, 0900. They are warning for rough seas such as the other night. Breakfast has just arrived! Looking good food wise again. In other news, we talked to some crew and asked how they were doing. They stated that they are hanging in there, but not sleeping too well due to the increased workload. As the title says I’m a welfare leech, I have NEVER had a job, I haven’t paid a single penny of income to taxes(I use my ebt card to AVOID tax for food items). I don’t think work is necessary for me, my mother tried “tough love” and kicked me out of the house when I was 18, I refused to do anything but sit on my ass, she said welfare won’t be enough to support me, she said I’d have to work eventually, but I have not done a days work in 37 YEARS. What is the whole point of this “work” if people can make more money doing nothing? It’s because of welfare that I can own the latest iPhone without working. Like I know people who are working FULL TIME and can’t afford unlimited data on Verizon, or eat lobster, or even use their ebt (if they have one) at fast food restaurants and pig out, because they have BILLS. I just don’t understand why more people get on the welfare and quit working. Anyways ama reddit. Edit* I swipe my ebt with pride, it doesn’t embarrass me like it did my mother.
